Rathedaung, Arakan State (Rakhine)—October 14, 2026. Rohingya residents of Anauk Pran village (also known as Muzai Para) in Rathedaung Township say they have been told to leave their homes by 17 October. They also say nearly 50 men and youths from the village have been taken away by the Arakan Army (AA), a Rakhine ethnic armed group. Villagers and affected families spoke by phone, and their accounts could not be independently verified.
According to residents, AA personnel told them that anyone still in the village after the deadline would be arrested. Some villagers said they were also threatened with death if they stayed. Residents report that the Arakan Army confiscated mobile phones and other communication devices, leaving the community cut off from the outside world.
Families say about 50 people, mostly young men and boys, were taken from the village. One of them was later returned dead. Villagers say a resident who asked why the man had been taken alive but sent back dead was himself taken away. Relatives say they do not know whether the others are alive.
Villagers and families have appealed to the Rohingya community and the international community to pay attention to the situation and take steps to protect the detainees and those still in the village.
The Arakan Army has not publicly responded to these claims. Arakan Journal was not able to independently confirm the reports, and this article will be updated as more information becomes available.
